Can we all identify what is innovation or not and more importantly why!
Is there consensus as to which of the following deserve the descriptor as being innovative?
- Smartphone
- Air freshener with natural fragrance and automatic dispenser
- Integrated circuits
- Clean coal
- Social media
- Your governments policy for climate change (climate disruption)
- Einstein’s theory of Relativity (Pogge, 2017) (Will, n.d.)
Would there be consensus as to why something deserves the descriptor innovative? Is a product such as a smartphone innovative today or is it old news? Why would an integrated circuit be on any innovation list when most people could not recognize one yet alone describe its functionality? A more fundamental question, why is innovation good?
